We are honored to introduce the dedicated Board of Directors of Aranya Sangha Dana Fellowship Limited, a charity organisation with a heartfelt vision – to empower monastics in Singapore to age well with the support of the Buddhist community.

Venerable Wei Zhi

Chairman and
Honorary Executive Director

Venerable Wei Zhi, a Singaporean, was ordained locally in 2002 and is actively involved in community and welfare services. He has been serving as Honorary Executive Director of Care for the Elderly Foundation (Singapore), an Institution of Public Character, since 1992, and is also the Vice-President of Kwang Hua Buddhist Monastery and Board Member of Man Fut Tong Nursing Home.

Venerable Wei Zhi co-founded Aranya Sangha Dana Fellowship Limited with Venerable Chuan Yu in 2020.

Venerable Chuan Yu

Deputy Chairman and
Honorary Deputy Executive Director

Venerable Chuan Yu, a Singaporean, was ordained locally by Venerable Kwang Sheng in 2006. He studied under Lama Tsering Wangdu Rinpoche in Nepal since 2008.

Venerable Chuan Yu was a social worker before ordination. Out of his strong conviction to help ageing monastics, especially those living alone, he co-founded Aranya Sangha Dana Fellowship Limited with Venerable Wei Zhi.

Venerable Adhibalo

Venerable Adhibalo was born in 1985 and ordained into the Theravada tradition of Thai Dhammayut sect at Santi Forest Monastery in Johor, Malaysia in 2008. He currently serves as a Religious Advisor to a few Buddhist organisations including BuddhistYouth Network, Singapore Polytechnic Buddhist Society ​and Singapore Management University Dhamma Circle​. He is also an advocate for inter-religious harmony and is an active member of Inter-Religious Organisation, Singapore​ and Harmony Circles Youth Steering Committee. He is a resident monk at Palelai Buddhist Temple.​

Gan Hock Chye

Hock Chye spent most of his career in the public service, including the Commissioner of Charities Office, Ministry of Manpower and the Agency of Integrated Care. He applied his experience and understanding of the regulatory landscape governing non-profit organisations, extensively to aid these organisations in governance and compliance. With a degree in Social Work and a minor in Technopreneurship, he combines his insights on social welfare and innovation to shape Aranya’s mission of social service support for ageing monastics.

Karen Hee Wan Leng

Karen is a highly experienced Human Resource professional with over three decades of expertise in people performance consulting ranging from talent acquisition, identification, assessment to HR systems and processes. Her passion for discovering and developing talent, combined with her extensive experience, put her in good stead for offering valuable insights and guidance to organisations seeking to optimise their recruitment and talent management processes. Karen sees a mission in helping to unleash people’s potential so as to lead a purposeful work-life.

Karen is known for being an active volunteer with youth-related work in Buddhist organisations for the last 20 years. She currently manages BuddhistYouth Network as one of its Directors and continues to facilitate workshops to Buddhist youths in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and other parts of Asia.

Huang Shuo Mei

Shuo Mei established her 40-year career in Public Affairs, Customer Service and Public Education at the Central Provident Fund Board, the then-Ministry of Community Development Youth and Sports, and SingHealth. She was the Director of the Social Development Unit, before joining Singapore General Hospital as its first Director of Communications in 2004, and later took on the concurrent role as SingHealth’s Group Chief Communications Officer until 2019. She was also the former Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Cord Blood Bank.  

Upon retirement, Shuo Mei volunteers actively with two social service agencies, which are Institutions of Public Character.

Dr Ng Wai Chong

MBBS (Singapore), GDGM

Wai Chong is a practising community aged-care physician and the Founder-CEO of NWC Longevity Practice, a social enterprise providing aged care consultancy, training, research, and direct clinical services. He is recognised as a thought-leader in healthy ageing and caregiving with interests in community aged-care system development, primary care, case management, caregiver care and comprehensive needs assessment. 

Prior to setting up NWC Longevity Practice, Wai Chong was the Chief of Clinical Affairs at Tsao Foundation. He is a member of the Review Board under the Vulnerable Adult Act since its inception, as well as the Board of Visitors under the Office of Public Guardian.

He is currently also a Health Specialist with the Asian Development Bank, Medical Director of Home Nursing Foundation, and Singapore’s InterRAI Fellow. He is a Board Member of Happee Hearts Movement, Care for the Elderly Foundation (Singapore) and The Compassionate Network.

Outside his work as a medical professional, Wai Chong is a much sought-after speaker on Buddhist teachings and practice.

Bryan Poh Huai Woon

Bryan is the Deputy Executive Director for Care for the Elderly Foundation (Singapore), and has oversight of the day-to-day running of programmes which include Home Health Care, Home Personal Care and End-of-Life Care.

Bryan graduated from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and holds a Graduate Diploma in Social Work from SUSS. He has also completed a Master degree in Social Work in June 2024.

Siew Kwee Eng

Kwee Eng is an experienced accounting and finance professional in the finance, investment and salvage industries. She currently provides accounting services to myriad business sectors including education centres, childcare centres, importers and tax services for expatriates.

Kwee Eng is much appreciated for her pro bono work to two social service agencies.
